Pressure-Driven Phase Transitions in Bulk HfS2

نویسندگان

چکیده

The effect of hydrostatic pressure up to 27 GPa on the Raman scattering (RS) in bulk HfS$_2$ is investigated. There are two transformations RS spectra, which take place during compression at between 5.7 and 9.8 as well 12.8 15.2 GPa. Seven vibrational modes can be observed after transformation, compared four before transformation. change suggests structural material yet unknown nature. frequencies above transformation linearly with corresponding coefficients have been determined. other transition manifests itself a lineshape. While series well-defined under below transition, broad spectral bands seen higher pressure. overall lineshape spectra resembles that disordered materials. does not decompression, permanent nature high-pressure transition.

Bulk-driven non-equilibrium phase transitions in a mesoscopic ring

We study a periodic one-dimensional exclusion process composed of a driven and a diffusive part. In a mesoscopic limit where both dynamics compete we identify bulk-driven phase transitions. We employ mean-field theory complemented by Monte-Carlo simulations to characterize the emerging non-equilibrium steady states. Monte-Carlo simulations reveal interesting correlation effects that we explain ...

Phase transitions in periodically driven macroscopic systems.

We study the large-time behavior of a class of periodically driven macroscopic systems. We find, for a certain range of the parameters of either the system or the driving fields, the time-averaged asymptotic behavior effectively is that of certain other equilibrium systems. We then illustrate with a few examples how the conventional knowledge of the equilibrium systems can be made use of in cho...

Universality in Voltage-driven Nonequilibrium Phase Transitions

We consider the non-equilibrium ferromagnetic transition of a mesoscopic sample of a resistive Stoner ferromagnet coupled to two paramagnetic leads. The transition is controlled by either the lead temperature T or the transport voltage V applied between the leads. We calculate the T and V dependence of the magnetization. For systems with a flat density of states we find as an exact result that ...

Phase transitions in driven lattice gases.

We have studied nonequilibrium lattice gases whose particles are driven by a field. The lattice is either a half-occupied square lattice or else the union of two energetically uncoupled ones. Monte Carlo simulations of the latter, which is always crossed by a dissipative particle current, show a tricritical point and a continuum of Ising-like critical points as the field is decreased, in additi...
